Annapolis Station, Earth Defense Grid (And so the RP begins! Yes, official characters (at least, Hood) may show up from time to time. Anyway...) "So, it's arriving today?"
"Yes sir. And I assure
you, this is the last request you shall have from this project. At
least, until we get discovered and begin to take casualties." "As do I...which is another reason why I was so reluctant to send her to your project." he said. "Just because we win most of our planetside battles doesn't mean that elite units are in any less of a demand than ships." The ONI officer nodded. "The Dawn will be arriving shortly. You may inspect it, and then take it to Weather. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have many things to do. Dismissed."

Jack awoke in the cryo chamber. He had been thawed, and presently was coughing up a mineral rich mucus. He hated space travel. After showering, he went to his locker and donned his uniform; he had a meeting with ONI today. Something about being reassigned to a new fleet, something special the Navy had been cooking up. As special ops, he heard quite a bit more about these sorts of things than the average G.I., but was nonetheless still in the dark about most of the UNSC's projects. Despite his dislike of space travel, he noted that he was glad to see his homeworld of Earth again. He didn't know how long it would be until next time. He went to the pelican loading bay, and strapped in, his armor stowed above him. "Not used to taking the slow boat, are you?" Said the pilot. "No, but it's a lot easier on the joints." Replied Ssgt. Hawkins.

Annapolis Station, Earth Defense Grid The ONI officer stood in the hangar, waiting. He was watching, waiting in the hangar bay, to personally inspect the ODSTs that would be arriving soon. His department had requested them, yes, but he wanted to personally inspect them...not in the formal way, oh no, but by watching them, their demenor, their observations, their attire, and all of that, to get a gauge of just what type of soldiers they really were...

Jack was dressed in his formal attire, standard uniform. He walked silently in unison with a dozen other spec op ODSTs assigned to this new unit. When they reached the center of the hangar, they stopped, turned to face the officer, saluted, and awaited orders. The final footsteps echoed in the empty vastness of the building.

Annapolis Station, Earth Defense Grid The officer approached Jack's unit, and returned their salute. Slowly, he spoke.
"As you know," he continued. "the Office of Naval Intelligence is constantly working to tip the balance in favor of humanity in this war, despite the accusations of unethical practices that are often hurled at us-and our projects have met with resounding success. From infiltration missions, to accurately predicting enemy movements, to the Spartans, our efforts have been indispensible to humanity's struggle to surrvive. But despite them, we are still, slowly but surely, losing ground."

"Will we be seeing any action?" Said a man next to Jack. Jack himself hoped for action as well; he was ready to gut some freaks. It had been a few months.

Annapolis Station, Earth Defense Grid The officer smiled, and spoke.
